For the written informal activity, I incorporate a lot of blog writing. So for each topic, there will be one main blog and students have to write an initial post, but then they also have to follow up to their classmates so this helps kind of establish camaraderie and a good kind of sense of community within the class and then at the end of each topic, they have to write a short analysis paper. So it's a two to three page analysis—we call this a lower stakes—you'll probably hear that term more than once throughout this week. And then for the spoken, at the end of each topic students have to do, then a mini lecture, a five minute presentation on the topic that they wrote about.
